The Shine Centre is a South African NGO that provides one-on-one reading and writing tutorial classes for Grade 3 learners who battle with literacy. Shine upholds the motto that Words Can Change Worlds.
During my time working at ABNF in Cape Town I worked on several design projects for the Shine Centre.
I designed the 2012/13 report for Shine. It was a 2-colour litho print run. Due to limited photographic resources at the time we went for a strong typographic approach with duotone images used where applicable.
Another project I worked on was a merchandise pack for the Shine Centre cycle team that was participating in the Argus Cycle Tour. The proceeds of the entry fee were donated to the Shine programme. Here are some samples of what appeared in the merchandise pack:
